Rafa was born in Aracena, in the hills north of the province of Huelva. There, among chestnut trees and black storks, he became interested in birds since childhood. Today, he enjoys nature in all its facets: birds, flowers, landscape, mammals and dragonflies. Rafa has spent ten years working on the study, preservation and divulgation of natural history as well as bird tourism. He also volunteers in several environmental organisations and is the author of a collection of four books “Birding and Nature Trails in Sierra Morena (Andalusia)” and the “Online guide to the birds of Sierra Morena”. In spite of being a lover of the Spanish nature, he is always keen to save money to go birding to other corners of the world. For now, he has been to Ecuador, Turkey, Uruguay, Florida, Madeira, Poland, Morocco, Scotland, Holland and South Africa, among other places.
