Almonaster La Real and its Mosque controlling impassively the advance of time. This is a thousand-year-old town with a wide architectural heritage that deserves its declaration as a historic-artistic complex. The walk from Aguafria towards Almonaster goes through lovely farms and hills where the exuberant vegetation provides shade from village to village.
The Cerro San Cristobal, one of Huelva’s peaks, offers astonishing views of the sierra and the charming town of Almonaster down below by the foothill.

This linear walk can be done in 5 hours at a relaxed pace. We start from Aguafria by the main road and take a footpath towards Los Romeros through orchards, dehesas and plantations of chestnut and pine trees. The importance of the black pig is evident in the town as we pass through on the way to Canalejas where we gear up to the 3 kilometre climb to the top of Cerro San Cristobal with some very steep slopes. Then, the way downhill is shorter and more gradual into Almonaster where we visit the impressive little mosque.
